“Ya’all seen Randy?”
Ya’all? Y’all? Ya’ll? hmmm…
I really need to get Roswell into Instagram.
Marketing is everything to me. Beer is no exception. This may be obvious to everyone, but, packaging can make a good beer great (and great beer outstanding). Case in point..Oskar Blues Brewing company. They make some outstanding beers (Gubna and Ten Fidy) but Dale’s Pale Ale is merely a great beer. This may sound snobbish by saying that great may not be good enough, but, living around D.C. outstanding beers are a 15 minute drive away. I will admit that I am lazy sometimes. I may not feel like driving 15 minutes so I sometimes settle for the 5 minute drive to the supermarket down the street. Lately the store chain has been stepping up their craft beer game. They don’t have everything I could ever want but it is good when I don’t feel like driving to my normal spots for higher end libations. When I am standing in the beer aisle hemming and hawing over which beer I choose to accompany my evening t.v. watching, I find myself with harder and harder decisions. There are some great breweries available to me that include Lagunitas, Sierra Nevada, Port City, and Oskar Blues to name a few. But, I like to pay attention to the fine details in the packaging. Sometimes when I see a little detail in the packaging of a beer that I am interested in I am more likely to choose that beer over a normal go-to. Case in point!!!! Oskar Blues seems to have paid a little more attention then most. On the bottom of each and every can produces an awesome nickname of the person involved in the (I can assume) quality control of the finished product. With this little attention to detail brings a brief smile to my otherwise stoic mug. I will always look at the bottom of a can of Oskar Blues beer and it will always make me smile…
